American Girl

Over Spring Break we headed to LA for some fun at Disneyland. I just couldn't pass up the chance to visit the American Girl Store while we were there. If you have a little girl you have probably heard of American Girl or received one of there catalogs in the mail. The dolls are amazing and have the coolest accessories. When gigi turned 5 she asked (begged) Santa to bring her an American Girl doll. She waited almost an entire year for that doll and was very happy when it showed up under the tree. Going to the American Girl Store was something that she has dreamed about as well. So we made reservations to have tea in the cafe and spend some time in the store. From the moment we walked in we both were amazed. Have you seen the Disney commercial where the mom and daughter are together but when they see their reflection they are both little girls? This was the two of us. They had everything you could imagine for your doll. They even had a doll hair salon, so we got her dolls hair done. They put her in a tiny little chair and did her hair...wow! The tea was fun too. They brought all kinds of little sandwiches and cookies. There was a box of conversation starters on the table so we asked each other all kinds of questions... what is your favorite animal...what is your favorite memory of summer...Tell about a time you were scared. It was so much fun. I loved sharing that moment with her, just the two of us. She has such a beautiful heart! Here are a few pictures of us. They even had a tiny chair, plate, and cup for her doll!

What's a girl to do???

We have gone from flip flops to snow boots in a matter of 3 days here in Idaho. Seriously....it was 80 on Sunday and today it was the high of 47 with a windchill about 15 degrees cooler. What's a girl to do? This poses a serious problem! Do you get the pedicure or not? I mean, why spend the 40 bucks if your cute little toes are going to be stuffed into Sorels! Not to mention the dilemma about shaving the legs. All that work for nothing....heck at this point you need that hair for added warmth. Don't even get me started on whether or not to attempt a self tanner. Trying to get it on evenly so you don't streak or look like you had an accident and spilled Betadine solution all over yourself, I mean this is work!
To add to all of this, there is the dilemma over what to wear to work. It is 3 weeks past Easter and part of me is conflicted when I pull out my black turtleneck sweater. I was raised on the east coast where fashion faux paus are talked about. No white after Labor Day and you put away those winter sweaters after Easter. Obviously their weather is a little different from ours. Still my heart is calling...please put on that sweater...you will be warm! So I have decided to make some new rules about fashion that work for Idaho....

1) The color of your shoes is not determined by the date on the calendar but rather the weatherman.

2) It is perfectly acceptable to wear a turtleneck sweater anytime after Easter if the temperature is below 55.

3) You do not have to shave your legs or get a pedi until the temperature is above 60 for 5 consecutive days.

4) It is not tacky to wear a spring skirt and your ski coat at the same time.

5) A summer glow is not expected until the 4th of July.

So there you have it ladies....new rules for Idaho. So if you are like me and you have been pondering a few of these questions lately, I hope that I have helped take off some of the pressure.

Living A Dream

Have you ever had a dream or something that you just wanted so bad you ached to your very core? Well, we lived one of those dreams this week or at least I lived it through my little man. We headed off to Disneyland for spring break. They have added a new show called "Jedi Training". They randomly pick kids from the audience to come up and train with the Jedi. The little man has been dreaming of doing this for a very long time so it was a must on our list of things to do. We went to the first show, he sat up front and jumped and screamed his little heart out....he didn't get picked. The show was way cooler than we expected. Not only do you train but you fight Darth Maul and Darth Vader (if you are not a star wars geek these are the really bad guys). You should have seen his eyes. I don't know who was disappointed worse him or me. I put on my best "it will be okay mom face" and said we would come back until they picked him. So the next day we were there for the first show, front row, screaming loud....the kids on either side of him got picked....okay we will come back again. So we showed up for the next show....again the kids on either side of him. I was beginning to think I needed to slip the Jedi Master a twenty or buy my kid and incredibly goofy hat! Now when the little man came over and said mom can we please come back...I really want to do this...I had to hide the tears that were filling my eyes behind my RayBans. I mean my heart was breaking over Jedi Training. So we came back once again...front row...I said scream and jump and don't let anyone in front of you. He said okay mom I will do my best. Gigi and I said a little prayer for him (she did not want to attend another Jedi training so she was praying hard) Here comes the Jedi Master and he starts picking kids. He picks each kid on either side of him...inside I was like pick him or I will lose it! Then came the magic word...you in the brown shirt. I jumped up and down and was screaming "HE GOT PICKED" I think the people around me thought I was a little crazy but this was our 4TH attempt at this thing. He marched right up on stage and got his robe and training lightsaber. I thought his little heart would pop. He was living the dream!!! I was living the dream!!! I never knew that I could be so excited over anything Star Wars but I was. I put together a little slide so so you can see it too!

Hormones?!!!

So today I head down to my local spa to get the ol' brows waxed. I hop up on the table and get ready for the treatment. You know...breathe deep, try to focus on something other than the wax that is about to rip out your hair by the roots and cause your face to scrunch up into weird contortions. Any hoo, all is well rip, rip, pluck, pluck. I proceed to ask my gal why my brows seem to be growing in more quickly lately. Is it the type of wax, do I need to pluck in between treatment, ...what? She says well, your hair can grow more quickly at times and can be effected by hormones...oh...ummm...well...could that have anything to do with the hotflashes I have been having? I am not talking about the occasionally ooohh I feel a little warm. I am talking full blown, red faced, stand outside in 30 degrees to cool off hotflashes. Wake up at night, soaking wet, change the jammies, hotflashes. I kinda chalked it up to stress (not that I have ever had hotflashes associated to stress, just seemed easier to deal with). I do NOT want to hear anything about hormones! I am only 36 (okay almost 37), ugghh...when did this happen. I mean honestly, when did I hit my mid-thirties. I know, I know, it is not old by any means, but really...almost 40??!! So to top the whole wonderful spa experience off, after she finishes my brows she says....so do you want me to do your lip? AAAHHHHH!

To all my loyal readers (all 3 of you!), I am still out here in cyber land. I have many a random thought to blog about as well as several stories to share. I just don't have time to get them out of my head and onto the paper (i guess that really is a figure of speech since all of this is saved somewhere out there and we no longer use paper!). We had a very busy weekend with the in laws in town. All the cousins went to the zoo together and had a great time. We had a birthday party for the mister's aunt this weekend which was fun. I love her and always have fun with her. The kiddos had fun playing. They decided to golf a little, luckily uncle golightly saved the day (or cars) by exchanging the real golf balls for the whoofle golf balls. Nothing like a 9 and almost 4 year old driving balls 5 feet from your car....could end badly! The spring weather is trying to peek through here. I can't wait because I am tired of being cold. I will get all of my random thought, schmoopy slide shows, and funny stories up soon! I am having a few technical difficulties with music but I am sure that the mister can help me out when he has a little time!

Here's my Romo. He is 7 months and is weighing in at about 70 lbs. I think he will be a big guy!
