Whew!....spring break has come and gone and I can hardly believe it. We had a fun week. We started the week off by doing a little spring cleaning. I took 6 bags of stuff to the Goodwill and only can home with 3 new items. The mister spent a few days building a pig pen. The new little piggies will be coming to our house on April 12th. Little man says that he is naming them Bacon and Porkchop. After we got all of our work done we headed out on our Spring Break Adventure. The kids had no idea where we were going but I must say they are pretty good detectives. Little man clued right into his boarding pass and the fact that it said LA. When we landed and headed off on the freeway he was reading signs the whole way. When Disney way popped up I thought he would go crazy...I knew it I knew it!!! Gigi we are going to Disneyland! We had a fun three days in the park. We met lots of famous people like Cinderella, Belle, and Minnie Mouse. The little man became a roller coaster junkie. I think gigi would have too except she was to short. She did make it on Space Mountain and loved every minute of it! I will have more to post once I get pics loaded.

Spring is here!!!

Yea......today is the first day of spring. Finally we are on our way to warmer weather and I am loving it! Life has been a little crazy in kerbyville....here is a little of what is happening with us.

~The little man has started spring flag football, practice 2 nights a week and games on Saturday.
~Gigi is doing gymnastics 1 night a week.
~We joined a new small group and are really having fun with that 1 night a week.
~Well that pretty much takes up our week.
~The crazy dog is finally under control and I think he actually likes his spot.
~The mister will be home all of next week...that is practically a miracle lately!
~Spring break offically starts tomorrow!!!!!!!!!
~We have absolutely no plans for Easter!! first time in oh I don't know 15 years, it will be nice to be home and relax.

So that is lifeinkerbyville in a nutshell. I have not had any profound thought to blog lately. Maybe I am a little to busy to do any deep thinking and I am to tired to wake up at night with a great idea. I do have some random thought though!

Why is it that my son always rips out the left knee of his pants...only the left on every pair!

Why do kids go crazy the week before spring break and on a full moon (which by the way I just noticed and it totally explained my week!

Why is it that when a teacher hears someone use the word penetration they come running for the Counselor??!! I mean what can I do??!!

How do you get through the 5th grade movie with 40 boys without anyone making some weird comment???!!! The best comment was "This is a little disturbing and I don't think we should see it until we are at least 13".

What do you say to your 6 year old when she says "Mom so and so says that she likes to have sacks with boys"?

Just a few of my random thoughts and a brief peek into my days at school. They are never dull!!! Well I guess I will go fold the laundry that is never done and has been sitting in the basket for 3 days (yes Ms. Fab 5 my mom taught me better too, but I still don't get it done!!!)

On the countdown!

We are on the countdown to spring break. Yeah! I can hardly wait. A whole week to relax at home is much needed in this house. The last half of the week we are going out of town. Our kids have been working hard to earn points for a spring break adventure. The mister and I were going to surprise them with a trip. The kids had been fighting and about driving me crazy so I decided to tell them that if they would get along and obey they could earn points and we would take a surprise adventure. It is working so I don't know what I will do after the trip is over. They have almost earned all of the there points. The little man told me tonight...start planning that trip mom because I am gonna get those points. I am having fun giving them little clues about where we are going. Somewhere west of our home and it will probably be warmer there are todays clues. I will keep you posted on the trip and will have pics when it is all over!

When puppies attack

Before

After

So our 6 month old pup has been exiled to a kennel when we are not home. He went crazy like most of them do at this age. As you can see he ate the grill cover, nibbled the edge of the deck stair, and pulled some of the plastic out from under the rock in my flower bed. The mister was ready to put him in the paper but gigi looked at him with her big brown eyes full of crocodile tears and said "daddy you can't sell my pup". He headed out to the farm store to buy the kennel. He seems to like it and is behaving a lot better!

Compassion

Wow, it really has been a while since I have posted....sorry, my life has been a little more than hectic lately. I was thinking of all the things I could write about and my head is just spinning. To many thoughts to put down. My heart has been heavy lately probably because of all that has happened in the last week. Work has been a little more than demanding. A co-worker lost her son this week to suicide. He was 21. My heart is broken for her. She has been trying so hard to help him through this depression. Words cannot express how sorry I am for her loss. She was friends with my other friend who lost her son in January. It has been very difficult the past few weeks. These two boys with their entire lives ahead of them, they had so much going for them. They didn't come from broken homes, drug use, or dysfunctional families. They suffered though. They struggled with demons within. Things that their friends and family could not help them with. It seems so senseless that you can't help but ask God why. I don't really have an answer. I can't tell you why these two women have crossed my path at very crucial times in their lives. They are going through experiences that change you forever. Something so tragic that it redefines you as a person. All I know is that I am learning the gift of compassion. On Friday I sat with my one friend and listened to her try to make sense of her tragedy. On Tuesday I sat next to another friend and held her hand through the funeral while she relived the loss of her own son. It is something that I will never forget and I am not sure why God placed me in that position. I am thankful for these women, for their strength, their ability to get up and continue on. I know that they have no idea the impact they have had on my life. They have taught me to love deeper, to stop and listen, to look at what is really important in life. They have taught me compassion like no other.
